Group Supervision
Often outdoors, experiential and embodied group supervision.
This amazing job of ours can also be pretty confusing. I don’t have all the answers myself, but I do know that groups can offer a ton of grounding and wisdom. And I know that nature can be an amazing container, mirror, and model for growth. Let’s combine these and see what we can discover together.
FALL 6 WEEK COHORT
Every other week, 9:00-10:30 on Thursdays.
Dates: Sept 3, Sept 17, Oct 1, Oct 15, Oct 29, Nov 12
Cost: $500 per person ($50/90 min session–sliding scale available)
Brunswick area, max 7 participants, minimum 4
This supervision group might fit for you if…
- You’re open to experiential, relational, and embodied work. (You do not have to practice from these places or modalities that center them yourself. Diverse approaches are welcome!)
- You’re down with curiosity, confusion, imperfection, and experimentation (including your own) being expected and celebrated.
- Outdoor work as part of your own learning holds some resonance for you. Sometimes, nature will be an explicit part of our exploration; sometimes it will simply be the container. (We will be outdoors only when weather is appropriate for our goals.)
- You ever ask, “Why are they letting me do this job?!?”…or…’What even is this job?!?”…or…”How am I often so clear on what I’m doing and sometimes still so lost?” (caveat–I still ask those questions myself, although now it’s more from curiosity than self-criticism!)
- You’re open to different ways of supervision. Supervisees will have the opportunity to present their success, cases, ethical dilemmas, and general quandaries to the group, while requesting what sort of support they would find most helpful. While the fairly standard ‘advice giving’ is an option, we will also learn frameworks for offering embodied and relational feedback to facilitate learning and growth through different layers and ways of knowing.
- You’d love to be building a richer professional network.
- More cost effective supervision sounds helpful.
- You are an intern, conditionally licensed, or fully licensed professional in counseling, social work, and related fields. (Aligned professionals from non-licensed or differently licensed fields also welcome–inquire to see if it would be a good fit.)
About your facilitator
Before I was a therapist, I was an experiential educator in many different capacities. Group facilitation is a particular delight and something I’m especially grateful people show up for, as I often have to push myself to participate in group processes. Even though I so deeply know the unique magic and support that happens in well facilitated groups, they can also feel very vulnerable and mysterious when getting started. So, thank you for even considering this option! I have advanced training and practice in ecotherapy and AEDP (accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy). These are the roots of my own practice and will inform group supervision. I love to push the edges of what ‘therapy’ can be (always ethically and intentionally) and welcome crazy ideas and wild brainstorms…laughter, joy, and awe are essential parts of my work. Group supervision is a new venture for me, so we’ll be learning together and I will be very much open to your feedback.
